Phil.4:13
“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers
me [to fulfil His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and
equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]”
Being positive or otherwise in life is a choice that individuals to make, while one fellow may see
a glass of water as half empty another person may see it as half full. It is mindset. In Numbers
13:25-33, while 2 people were confident that they will be victorious against the occupiers of the
promised land, Ten people could only consider themselves as grasshoppers going to battle
against giants. They already lost the battle even before it started. Many people have stalled their
own progress by their “it is not possible” mindset.
An intriguing story in the power of positivity is written in1 Sam.17, David a shepherd boy went to
battle against Goliath, whom all the host of Israel were afraid of despite their military training.
While they concluded that they will die if they went to battle against the giant, David said in
1Sam 17:32 and 46
““Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!” Today the Lord will conquer
you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to
the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel!”
Although all the odds were stacked against him, he was confident that with God on his side, it
was impossible for him to lose the battle.
Are a child of God, how does your mind work, do you see problems in situations or opportunity
to make a difference?
Job was a man with tonne load of problem, yet he never despaired, he had implicit trust in the
Lord with a frightening positive disposition, he said in Job.19:25
“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last.”
He was sure of the Lord whom he served, do you as a Christian have such confidence in Jesus
Christ? The woman with the issue of blood came to Him in confidence after trying everything
else and all she had in the process. She said all I need to do is touch the tip of his clothe, she
did not come for prayer or fasting, she only came in faith and her work – the effort/touching; and
she went home justified.
Being positive is beyond positive confession, it is actually living with a positive attitude and
mindset, say it and mean it.
As we run this race to eternity, being positive will keep us walking on water and treading on
serpents, any doubting or misgiving and we will sink like Peter who allowed the negatives he
saw around him made him to start thinking negatively.
It is not a surprise therefore, that only those two who have the positive mind amongst the
Twelve , who got into the promised land and enjoyed its flowing milk and honey.
Be positive always!
